Bereton is the reigning Championship Player of the Month after he scored six goals for Blackburn Rovers last month. He was responsible for the opening goal against the Paraguayans before veteran right-back Mauricio Isla added a second goal on 72 minutes to secure the three points.

Bereton made it two goals in two World Cup 2022 qualifiers from the South American regionafter netting one of the goals in the 3-0 home win over Paraguay for the Chilean national team. Erick Pulgar set Chile on their way to an important victory with a first half brace before Bereton settled the game with his second half strike.

The victory over Venezuela moved Chile to within three points of Colombia who occupy the fourth and final automatic spot for the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar.
